Environmentalist Dr Anil Joshi has been conferred Biotechnology Social Development Award 2016. President Pranab Mukherjee presented the award to Dr Anil Joshi at a ceremony held at the Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. He was presented with a scroll of honour and a cheque of Rs 5 lakh. Senior HESCO’s scientist Dr Rakesh Kumar was also present on the occasion The award is given to personalities whose organizations have done commendable work in social development sector.
Dr Joshi, who heads Himalayan Environment Scientists Conservation Organisation (HESCO), has been particularly awarded for his contribution towards making villagers aware on importance of environmental conservation. He encouraged farmers to revive traditional agricultural practices.
