Grandparents are special to every child with their bed-time stories being an integral part of everyone’s growing up years. They are also the wise and experienced ones, whom we turn to in times of need and guidance as their knowledge is invaluable and their love unconditional.
Noted literati Dr Vikram Alankar stated this while speaking as the chief guest at the Grandparents Day function organised at Maa Anandmayi Memorial School (Junior Wing), Raiwala, here today.
School Director Divya Panjwani said there was a need of joint family in today’s time when ill-effects of a nuclear family were easily visible on growing children, who are devoid of the guidance and love of their grandparents.
School headmistress Amita Ohri said the one thing that was missing in the lives of children today was the sense of family, its values, beliefs and principles.
Amita said this was where the role of the grandparents come who inculcate beliefs and values. Cultural and co-curricular activities were also held in which grandparents took part with zeal.
Students sang songs such as ‘Maiya Yashoda’, ‘Vande Matram’, and ‘Maula mere Maula’ for their grandparents. Grandparents Gaje Singh, Seema Thapa, Sarveshanand Semwal, Munni Devi, Uma Sharma and Captain VK Mishra were adjudged the winners of various events.
