Dehradun, June 3
As a precursor to the June 9 Passing Out Parade, a paper collage of the iconic “Chetwode building” was presented to the Indian Military Academy by Colonel Virendra Rawat (retd).
As mark of allegiance and honour to his Alma Mater, Col Rawat had this dream of presenting the painting for a few years, which got finally fructified in June 2018. Col Rawat (retd) presented the painting to Lt Gen SK Jha Commandant Indian Military Academy.
A passionate painter Col Virendra Rawat (Retd) got into the art of painting and sculptures more or less as a hobby and developed this into profession after his successful Army career that spanned over 37 years.
The paper collage “The Chetwode Building”, which was presented by Col Rawat to the IMA, took more than 72 hours of dedicated efforts as each tiny bit of high quality paper was carefully selected without using colours of any kind. The entire process was not only time consuming but also calls for very high degree of patience and concentration of an artist.
