Dehradun, June 2
At a time when most of northern states are reeling under heat wave, rain lashed low-lying areas of the state while higher reaches of Uttarakhand witnessed fresh snowfall today.
Hemkund Sahib and its higher reaches received fresh snowfall today. The State Meteorological Centre has predicted partly cloudy sky in Dehradun for tomorrow. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 36°C and 23°C, respectively.
The mercury dropped as sky remained overcast throughout the day in Dehradun. Rain lashed Gauchar, Harshil, Tharali, Hanumanchatti, Maneri, Dunda and Chinyalisaur and higher areas of Pithoragarh and Champawat while Badrinath and Kedarnath experienced fresh snowfall.
State Meteorological Centre Director Anand Sharma informed that light rain or thunderstorm would occur at a few places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts of the state tomorrow.
He told light rain or thunderstorm might occur at isolated places in rest of the state. Sharma said snowfall (01 to 05 cm in depth) might occur at places with height around 4000 m and above. Meanwhile, several areas faced power outage after Dehradun witnessed stormy weather conditions.
