In the first match of the Haridwar League T-20 Cricket Tournament, the Vijeta-11 team beat Gymkhana Cricket Academy here today.
The league is being organised to draw financial support for child cancer patient Deepak.
In the pool B match played this morning at the Bhalla Inter-College Outdoor stadium, Gymkhana Cricket Academy won the toss and opted to bat first.
Despite overcast bowling conducive weather conditions, Gymkhana batsmen amassed 163 runs in the stipulated 20 overs losing nine wickets in the process.
Bhanu scored 47 runs with two sixes and seven fours, while Shivam made 23 runs, which included three sixes and two fours.
Chasing the target with the help of Karanveer’s 70 runs, which included six sixes and five fours, and 41 runs by Bhawani Singh, Vijeta-11 won the match in just 15.4 overs with seven wickets to spare.
Karanveer was adjudged the man of the match and was given the award by the Cricket Association of Haridwar. Neeraj Kumar, Pankaj Sehgal, ward councilor Aman Garg, Cricket Association of Haridwar general secretary Inder Mohan Barthwal, Himanshu Gupta, Himanshu Bahuguna, Rahul Khurana, Neeraj Sahu, Mayank Sharma, Naveen Pant and Dinesh Vyas also witnessed the match.
