Ludhiana, November 20
Amit Kumar, a resident of Noorwala, has alleged harassment by his wife, an NRI whom he married in 2005.
After a statement given by Amit Kumar, the Jodhewal police have registered a case under sections 420/506 of the IPC and sections 66 E, 67 of the IT Act against Kulwinder Kulla of Meharbaan village.
Kulwinder Kulla came to India from England in 2005 and offered Amit that she will settle him in England after getting married to him, if he paid Rs 20 lakh. On November 26, 2005, Amit paid her Rs 6.5 lakh as advance and got married to Kulla on November 27, 2005, after which Kulla went to England and later called Amit, who reached there on January 17, 2006.
Amit alleged that after reaching England, Kulla started asking for more money from him. He gave another Rs 1.5 lakh to Kulla and she started threatening him.
Amit returned to India. In February 2006, Kulla again called her husband and told him that soon he would be a permanent resident at England. Amit reached and handed over Rs 1 lakh to Kulla and after four days, he had to return home as she again started to threaten him.
Amit got perturbed as she was not interested in paying back Rs 9 lakh to him and refused to give divorce. To defame Amit, Kulla allegedly started posting objectionable pictures of Amit on social network. A case has been registered. —OC
