Most of the people view anger as a negative emotion and always fear that anger has negative consequences. However, psychological studies show that the employees who express their anger in doing something productive, rather than feeling sadness or guilt, get more respect from others as the latter view them as someone who wields power.

Just analyse how heated arguments blow up among colleague  at workplace.  This happens when these people think less and feel more. The problem arises when none of the argumentative employees is ready to listen. If one of them gives a patient hearing to the other, even if the other one is in the wrong, at least once their arguments will end.  Often even a simple act of apology can save people from the harms caused by anger.

Have you ever felt how your body feels when you get angry? It usually indicates a rise in blood pressure, makes muscles tense and the breathing short. Have you ever thought of taking a deep breath at such a time? Most probably not! It is exactly here that most people make an error. Once you just take a deep breath till your solar plexus you start feeling how the same anger starts coming under your control. You would realise this only when you practice this regularly.

Remember, that even if you are an angry employee, you can turn the scale in your favour if you just control and channel your anger in the positive and productive direction. Here is how you can do so:

Vent it out : Don’t repress your anger and it is better to vent it out occassionally. Pent up emotions can be dangerous for your work and reputation.

Use it productively: Being angry and doing nothing proper with it is sheer waste of this powerful fuel. Take every assignment gracefully and treat it like a piece of art. Any work or hobby like writing, painting, music,  carpentry etc require energy to complete them. May be you don’t know how much energy works behind your emotion of anger, which if utilised properly can work wonders even making you something really special.

Not a weakness: Bear it in mind that anger is not your weakness. It is rather a healthy emotion that serves an important biological and evolutionary propose. It is the power and energy that prepares you for the fight or flight situation against a perceived danger, which in your case may be the heavy workload. Once you accept that anger as a normal part of your work life and allow yourself to experience it you would feel the thrill of staying productive.

But remember, never to allow that sense of anger to overpower and dominate you in a way that things go beyond your control.
