London: UK counter terrorism police have arrested the parents of a 20-year-old white British Muslim convert dubbed 'Jihadi Jack', for sending money to their son, who has reportedly joined IS in war-ravaged Syria. "We can confirm a 55-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, from Oxford, were arrested on suspicion of sending money to Syria which could be used for terrorism purposes and were bailed until February 17," South East Counter Terrorism Command said. Moderate quake jolts Nepal, 15 injured
Kathmandu: A moderate quake measuring 5.5 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Nepal's capital and its tourist hub Pokhra, injuring 15 people on Friday. The quake was epi-centred at Sindhupalchowk district, 55 km north-east of Kathmandu, according to The National Seismological Centre. Fifteen people were injured in Kathmandu as people ran away from their houses in panic during the tremor, according to the home ministry spokesperson. PTI
Thai Princess chosen for 1st world Sanskrit Award
Bangkok: Vice-President Hamid Ansari on Friday called on Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, on whom India has decided to bestow the first world Sanskrit Award. Sirindhorn, a 60-year-old scholar of Sanskrit who was the Royal Patron of the World Sanskrit Conference held here last year, will be travelling to India in this regard. PTI
