A plane crashed and caused several casualties at an air show in Brighton, on England's south coast, emergency services said on Saturday.

The aircraft hit several cars on a main road, the A27, to the north of Shoreham airport, where the Shoreham Air Show is taking place, police said. It happened at around 1:20 pm (1220 GMT).

Media reports say the plane was a Hawker Hunter fighter jet, a type that dates from the 1950s, and that its pilot was pulled from burning wreckage. — Reuters
