Singapore: Singapore's iconic tourism destination Marina Bay Sands will add a 'fourth tower', adjacent to the existing three towers, at an approximate $3.3 billion investment, in its bid to attract more international visitors. Boston-based architect Moshe Safdie, who designed the original property, Aedas and Gensler are planning to be part of the team responsible for the design elements of the building, a statement said. “We are planning an all-suite hotel to target the high-value international visitors,” said George Tanasijevich, CEO, Marina Bay Sands. Dress code diktat for schoolgirls in Pak district
Islamabad: The education authorities in Pakistan’s Haripur district have made it mandatory for all girl students of government schools to wear an abaya, gown or chador, aimed at “protecting them from eve teasing and harassment”. A circular issued earlier this week by Samina Altaf, District Education Officer, asked all government schools to ensure that girl students adhered to the new dress code, Dawn reported. She said since providing police protection to girl students at every nook and corner was not possible, the administration had decided to make it binding upon them to observe “proper purdah for their safety”. US actress gets 14-day jail for admission scandal
boston: Hollywood actress Felicity Huffman has been sentenced to 14-day jail for paying bribes to get her daughter admitted to a top university. Huffman, 56, also fined of $30,000, 250 hours of community service and one-year supervised release, federal judge Indira Talwani said in a Boston court on Friday. The “Desperate Housewives” star, who must report to prison on October 25, said she accepts the “court’s decision today without reservation”, reports said. IANS
