UN stamp to honour Subbulakshmi

United Nations: The United Nations is honouring MS Subbulakshmi by issuing a stamp on Independence Day to mark the birth centenary of the ‘Queen of Music’. This year is also the 50th anniversary of her legendary concert in 1966 at the UN. AR Rahman will perform as a tribute to her on August 15. IANS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
