Brussels: Belgian authorities are constructing a 3.2-km pipeline for beer under the streets of the city of Bruges. It will pump beer at a speed of 4,000 litres an hour from De Halve Maan Brewery to its bottling plant outside the city. “We received a lot of people offering us to pass alongside their house,” the owner said, “with just one condition — a tap-in point.” However, the pipeline, he said, was being built for logistical reasons, not so that people could have personal beer taps. — IANS

Beijing: A family in China’s Shanxi province has conducted a “ghost wedding” with the corpse of a woman to pacify the soul of their son who died a bachelor, in the latest case highlighting the grisly custom in rural China. Posthumous marriage is an ancient and popular custom in rural Shanxi, where the practice is often dictated by tradition and many locals consult fortune tellers, who say the family will be cursed if one of its members dies unmarried.— PTI
Hyundai unveils wearable robot
SEOUL: South Korean auto giant Hyundai Motor Group has unveiled a wearable robot that can be applied in many areas, including military and production lines, the company announced on Friday. "This wearable robot that we are developing for commercial purposes will be used in diverse areas," a company official said. "Such a robot development is in line with Hyundai Motor Group's vision for free mobility of people and things." The robot is like the suit seen in the Hollywood blockbuster "Iron Man", which one can wear by simply buckling into it, Xinhua news agency reported. — IANS
