2 submit fake medical certificates to get arms licence, booked

Authenticity of the medical reports was compromised

The Police Division 5 police station has registered cases against two individuals for submitting fake medical reports to obtain and renew arms licences. The cases came to light after the ACP Licensing Branch conducted an investigation and found the attached certificates forged.

In the first case, Lalit Kumar, a resident of Sahnewal, had submitted a fake medical report along with his application for an arms licence.

Gurnihal Singh Garcha, a resident of Model Town, Ludhiana, had also used a fake medical certificate to renew his arms licence.

The ACP Licensing Branch’s investigation revealed that the authenticity of the medical reports was compromised, leading to the recommendation for registration of cases against both individuals. Following the investigation, the police registered cases against Lalit and Gurnihal.

The authorities have stated that both suspects are currently evading arrest. The investigation is ongoing, and the authorities are making efforts to take the suspects into custody and bring them to justice.

Meanwhile, sources said the police would also check the role of government officials or any private persons who issued fake medical certificates to the suspects. A probe would also be initiated to check from how long this practice was going on. They said the police would also check its own records to inquire if fake medical certificates were deposited by any arm licence applicant in the past.
