Avani Rai of the Sector 38 Coaching Complex cemented her girls’ U-13 semifinals berth by defeating Manmeet Kaur 21-1 21-8 at the ongoing Chandigarh State Badminton Championships.
Pawani Verma faced a tough resistance from Hargun Kaur before recording a 21-7 19-21 21-8 win, while Sirat Baidwan easily defeated Aradhya Acharya 22-20 21-12. Divnoor Kaur also stormed into the semis by defeating Sehaj Preet Kaur 21-15 21-10.
In the boys’ U-15 quarterfinals, top seed Gurtaaj Singh faced a tough fight from Himanshu Dhull before he logged a 21-16 16-21 21-10 win for the semis. Vansh Sood defeated Tanul 21-13 27-25, Ayaan Marwaha defeated Manhar Jinta 21-17 21-11 and Tusya Nakra ousted Yug Parmar 21-14 14-21 21-15 in other quarterfinals matches.
Uday Rana moved into the boys’ U-17 semis by defeating Vaibhav Giri 21-16 21-10. Suryansh Raghav also moved ahead by defeating Nimit Pal 21-18 21-14, Chitranshu Dhawan defeated Aditiya Rasali 21-15 21-17 and Rana Rudhra Pratap Singh overpowered Jai Vardhan Chopra 21-11 19-21 21-18.
Top seed Ridhima Saini moved into the girls’ U-15 semis by defeating Samaira Arora 21-3 21-3 and Kabit Anhad Kaur Dhiraj defeated Baaruni Chopra 21-18 16-21 21-11. Aakriti logged an easy win over Guneet Kaur 21-18 21-12 and Jaya Verma recorded a comeback 18-21 21-10 22-20 win over Anika.
In the boys’ U-13 category, Ans Kumar Khare defeated Adrit Nakra 21-6 21-3, Jorawar Singh Dhiraj ousted Aneesh Yadav 21-11 22-20, Hiyan Yadav defeated Luvyaan Singh Kakkar 21-12 21-16 and Abhijay Anand stunned second seed Mudit Bhansali 19-21 21-8 21-7. The pair of Divnoor Kaur and Hargun Kaur defeated Manmeet Kaur and Pragun 21-13 21-10 in the girls’ doubles U-13 quarterfinal. Sehaj Preet Kaur and Simardeep Kaur Sian also moved ahead by defeating Manvi and Pavi 21-10 21-6, while Arnaaz Kaur and Saanvi Sharma struggled hard to defeat Aarna Sapra and Avineet Kaur 21-5 16-21 21-7. Pawani Verma and Sirat Baidwan ousted Aadya and Chaitanya Sharma 21-6 21-8.
The pair of Aarush and Tusya moved into the boys’ doubles U-15 semis by defeating Arhaan Singh and Jaitesh Khatra 21-8 21-9. Tajas and Vansh Sood improved from a game down to defeat Agamvir Singh and Yug Parmar 18-21 21-16 21-17, while Manhar andTanul defeated Kartikey Hooda and Yachit Sharma 21-7 21-8. Ayaan and Gurtaaj Singh easily blanked Lakshit Bansal and Tejas Bir Singh 21-9 21-6.
