IGNOU starts BA home science course

The four-year undergraduate programme to be offered in open and distance learning mode

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced a new course of Bachelor of Arts in Home Science with an aim at providing Class XII students with another academic opportunity. The programme will start from the July 2025 session. The four-year undergraduate programme will be offered in open and distance learning mode. It was started by Dr Dharam Pal, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre, Karnal.

“Students who have passed Class XII are eligible to apply. The course is designed not only for academic learning but also to help students build careers in various professional sectors. It offers a combination of theory and practical training and the medium of instruction will be both Hindi and English,” said the Regional Director.

Dr Dharam Pal said the BA Home Science programme has been developed in alignment with the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) curriculum and credit framework and is based on the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 guidelines.
