'Harassed' by Bajrang Dal activists, cow vigilante jumps before train near Palwal

Lokesh Singla, a resident of Bichhor in Nuh district and a cow vigilante, who was accused in Nasir-Junaid lynching case, today reportedly died by suicide by jumping in front of a train on the Delhi-Agra track near Palwal. Before the act, Singla made a video and sent it to his wife, alleging that he was taking the extreme step due to harassment by Bajrang Dal members. The video has gone viral.

Following the complaint of Damyanti, his wife, an FIR has been registered against three persons for abetment to suicide by the Government Railway Police (GRP), Faridabad.

He accused Bharat Bhushan, Bajrang Dal state convener from Hathin, and Harkesh Yadav and Anil Kaushik of harassing him.

His wife said he was a social worker and father of three minor children. The accused were blackmailing him to implicate him in a case. They also threatened to ruin her husband's life and kill him, she alleged.

“We have handed over the body to the kin after a postmortem examination. An FIR has been registered against the three accused,” said Rajesh Chechi, DSP, GRP, Faridabad.

The charred bodies of Nasir and Junaid were found in a vehicle on the Rajasthan-Haryana border on February 16 after they were allegedly abducted by some vigilantes who accused them of cow smuggling. Singla was one of the accused in the case.
