Basil Eidenbenz will play Eskel in The Witcher
The Witcher has recast the role of Eskel with actor Basil Eidenbenz. Back in February, Netflix announced that actor Thue Ersted Rasmussen would be portraying the role of the fellow Witcher in the Henry Cavill-starring series. However, Rasmussen had to drop out of the series due to the rescheduling conflicts caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Eidenbenz has previously appeared in the British historical drama Victoria, The Athena and had a role in The Favourite starring Olivia Colman and Emma Stone. The actor will portray the role of Eskel, the long-time friend and colleague of protagonist Geralt of Rivia. For the unversed, The Witcher has been adapted from the Witcher novels and the popular video game. The addition of Eskel in Season 2 of the series was announced alongside several other cast members. Killing Eve actor Kim Bodnia will also play Vesemir, Geralt and Eskel’s mentor.
