Bathinda, February 17

As many as 11 cases were registered under the NDPS and Excise Acts by the police in the last 24 hours in the district. The police also arrested 14 persons in these cases.

In the first case, the police arrested two persons with 30 gram of heroin on the Sukhpeer Road area in the city. The accused have been identified as Tarun Dhingra of Sirki Bazaar and Khushi, a resident of Sukhpeer Road. They have been booked under the Excise Act at the Canal Colony police station.

In the second case, the police nabbed a woman with 1,450 drug pills and 4 kg of poppy husk at Maur Kalan. The accused has been identified as Veerpal Kaur and a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against her at the Maur police station.

In the third, the police arrested two persons and seized 30 bottles of (country-made) illicit liquor at the Katar Singh Wala village bus stand while one person escaped. Those arrested have been identified as Paramjit Singh of Mehraj village and Teja Singh of Gehri Bhagi village while the third accused, identified as Amrik Singh of Kotshamir, is absconding. A case has been registered against three accused at the Bathinda Sadar police station.

In the fourth, the police arrested a person and seized 150 litres of lahan at Chauke village. The accused have been identified as Bhola Singh of Chauke village and a case has been registered against him at the Rampura Sadar police station.

In the fifth, acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid at Bucho Kalan and seized 90 litres of lahan. However, no arrest has been made in this case. The police have booked Namdev Singh of Bucho Kalan under the Excise Act at the Cantt police station.

In the sixth, the police seized 400 drug pills from a person during checking at Ramsara village in the district. The accused has been identified as Tarsem Singh, a resident of Tarkhanwala village in the district. A case has been registered at the Rama police station in this regard.

In the seventh, the police nabbed two persons and seized 1.80 kg of opium during checking at the grain market in Pathrela village of the district. The accused have been identified as Shagna Ram and Mula Ram of Rajasthan. A case has been registered against at the Sangat police station.

In the eighth, the police arrested two persons and seized 12 bottles of illicit (country-made) liquor from them and a motorcycle during checking at Bambiha village. The accused have been identified as Jaspal Singh and Gursewak Singh of Chak Atar Singhwala village. A case has been registered in this regard.

In the ninth, the police arrested Bhagwan Singh of Jagah Ram Tirath village and Jaswinder Singh of Talwandi Sabo and seized 80 pills of drugs during checking at Talwandi Sabo. A case has been registered against the accused at Talwandi Sabo.

In the 10th case, the police arrested Jagwinder Singh of Virk Khurd village with 20 bottles of the banned syrup during checking of a Swift Desire car at Virk Khurd village. A case has been registered against the accused at the Bathinda Sadar police station.

In the 11th case, the police nabbed a person, identified as Gurtej Singh of Nathena village, and seized seven bottles of illicit liquor at Kothe Nathena village. A case has been registered in this regard at the Nehiawala police station.
