Bathinda, December 18
A two-day workshop on ‘Advanced computer-aided drug design and computational biology’ began at the Central University of Punjab here on Wednesday.
The workshop is being organised by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products, in collaboration with the Schrödinger Inc, US, and is aimed at providing theoretical perspective and hands-on training in various advanced computational drug design techniques to students. More than 50 faculty members and research scholars from various institutions participated in the event.
Prof Anjana Munshi, Dean (research), also was also present on the occasion. Dr Raj Kumar and Dr Venkat talked about the theme of the workshop. Prof P Ramarao, Dean (academic affairs and the school of basic and applied sciences), said: “Computer-aided drug design is a powerful technique in the field of computational biology that is transforming modern drug discovery and is playing a vital role in the development of new-drug molecules.”
He exhorted participants to learn various aspects of the technique and focus on developing innovative solutions for the benefit of society. — TNS
