2 killed, 14 injured as bus returning from Maha Kumbh overturns in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh

Two women were killed and 14 passengers injured when a bus carrying devotees from Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj to Hanumangarh in Rajasthan overturned on the Jaipur-Agra highway on Wednesday.

According to reports, the incident occurred near Peepal Khera village in Dausa when the bus lost control while trying to avoid hitting cattle on the road.

The injured have been admitted to a nearby Mahua hospital.

Balahedi police station incharge Bhagwan Sahay, who reached the spot, said that the two deceased women have been identified as Sundar Devi Jat (50), a resident of Haripura in Sangria, and Bhanwari Devi Sharma (55) of Sardarshahar. Most of the injured devotees are residents of Hanumangarh, Churu and Sirsa district of Haryana.

Mohan Lal Jat (28) of Bisrasar, Santosh Swami (60) of Rawatsar, Urmila Jat (50), Shakuntala Jat (48), Parmeshwari (55) of Sirsa, Saraswati (65) of Barwadih, Saroj Sharma (50) of Rawatsar, Girdawari (58) of Neemla village in Sirsa, Hopi Yogi (45) wife of Rawatsar, Kesar Devi Swami (40) of Bhagwansar Nohar, Radha Sharma (45) of Ratangarh, Kamal Sharma (28) of Rawatsar, Parvati (55) of Rawatsar and Parvati Swami (60) of Taranagar Churu are the injured devotees.

Following first aid, seven of the injured were admitted to Dausa District Hospital, while five, in critical condition, were later referred to Jaipur for advanced medical care.

The police handed over the bodies of the two deceased women to their families in the afternoon after conducting a postmortem.
