Renowned writers in city for Tony Batish Art Fest

The Tony Batish Art Festival, organised by the Venice Art Theater started with a great fervour at Government Rajindra College on Friday.
Book exhibitions, plays, poetry recitations, musical events, ‘nukkad natak’, short-film competitions will be part of the three-day event. Renowned writers from the region would present their ideas before the public. The chief guest of the inaugural event of the fair was the managing director of the Baba Farid Group of Institutions, Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, while Rajindra College principal Prof Jyoti Prakash and vice-principal Prof Surjit Singh attended the function as special guests. Apart from this, intellectuals, teachers, artists, activists, students and organisations from various areas of the state attended the event on the first day.
The programme started with presentation of Swamy Sarabjit’s play. On the occasion, Dr Kashish Gupta, Rajiv Arora and Paramjit Singh Rumana were also present. A ‘nukkad natak’ titled ‘Ae lahu kis da hai’ remained the main highlight among other cultural activities presented on the first day of the fest.
The fair has become a boon for those wanting to buy good books. There was a lot to learn from the intellectuals. The art festival is dedicated to the memory of folk artist, playwright, writer and teacher Tony Batish. A special honour will be given in his memory.
