The three-day Tony Batish Art Festival at Government Rajindra College concluded amid brilliant performances by artists from the region on Sunday.
Book stalls, ‘kavi darbar’ and ‘nukkad natak’ remained major highlights on the final day of the fest, where writers, teachers, students and artists from the region participated. Book lovers bought books of literature, science and history among other genres to the stalls. In the book exhibition, a total of 40 publishers had put up their books.
The ‘kavi darbar’ got a resounding applause from the audience, after artistes recited soulful poetry. Jaswant Zafar, Pal Kaur, Neetu Arora, Jagwinder Jodha and Satpal Ghai recited poems. In the afternoon, ‘nukkad nataks’ on various subjects were presented by artistes that got phenomenal response from spectators. A Sufi music performance enthralled everyone. Plays on various subjects highlighting the lives of people in contemporary times were staged in the evening and also got a good response from the audience. The organisers expressed gratitude towards everyone for being a part of the event and promised to organise the event next year as well. —TNS
