Bathinda, February 10
To mark the National Deworming Day, the district Health Department organised an awareness seminar and distributed albendazole tablets among city residents on Monday. The event was inaugurated by Civil Surgeon Dr Amrik Singh Sandhu by administering albendazole tablets to students of DAV College.
Dr Sandhu said: “The albendazole tablet kills worms inside the stomach of children. It also helps treat malnutrition and irritability in children and enhances their memory. These tablets are safe with no side-effects.”
The District Immunisation Officer, Dr Kundan Kumar Pal, sensitised participants to the stomach-related ailments in children and shared their treatment methods. “Children aged from one to two must be given half tablet (200 mg) and those aged from two to 19 must be given one tablet,” he said. Those children who could not be provided tablets on Monday, would be covered during the mop-up campaign on February 17, added Dr Kundan.
Dr Pamil Bansal exhorted the children to maintain personal hygiene and avoid fast food items.
