Representatives of the All-Punjab Anganwadi Workers’ Union held a meeting with the director of the Department of Social Security and Development of Women and Children, Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, in Chandigarh on Friday and requested her to resolve their long-standing demands.
Hargobind Kaur, state president of the union, said: “We have brought all our pending demands to the notice of the director and after a prolonged discussion, she assured us to resolve most of our demands on a priority basis.”
“We brought to her notice the non-payment of honorarium to anganwadi workers by the state. We also told her that monthly payment of Rs500 for worker and Rs250 for discharging duties under the Poshan Abhiyan has been lying pending for the past over two years. Also, the payments for performing services under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) are pending,” Kaur said.
