The state government has suspended Bathinda DSP City-I Harbans Singh. A senior police officer in Chandigarh confirmed the development, stating that further details would be shared shortly.

According to sources, the DSP allegedly failed to take action against drug traffickers in his jurisdiction. However, some people in the town speculate that Harbans has been made a scapegoat due to ongoing infighting between two factions of the ruling party in Bathinda.

Bathinda DIG Harjit Singh and Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal were not available for comment. Notably, Harbans has previously served in various positions in Bathinda, including as SHO of Kotwali and Civil Lines police stations.

This action against the DSP comes just within a fortnight of the suspension of Fazilka SSP Varinder Singh Brar on May 28.
