Bathinda police arrest another suspected spy Bathinda Army Cantonment

Earlier, another individual working as a cobbler in the area was also arrested on similar charges of spying for Pakistan

Bathinda Police on Tuesday arrested another suspected spy allegedly working for Pakistan from the Bathinda Army Cantonment (Cantt).

The accused, identified as Raqeeb, is a resident of Roorkee in Uttarakhand. He was working as a tailor inside the Cantonment area.

Officials at the Bathinda Army Cantt grew suspicious of Raqeeb’s suspicious activities and reported the matter to the local police. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police arrested him.

An FIR has been registered against him at the Bathinda Cantt police station.

SP City Narinder Singh stated that Raqeeb had been working as a tailor at the Bathinda Cantt for the past two years. He lived and slept inside his shop within the Cantt area.

“We received a complaint from the Army Cantt regarding his suspicious activities. Following this, we registered a case and arrested him,” Singh said.

Authorities have seized Raqeeb’s mobile phone and sent it for forensic examination.

“The nature and extent of the information he may have shared will only become clear after the forensic examination,” Singh added.

This incident marks the second reported espionage case from Bathinda Cantt.

Earlier, another individual working as a cobbler in the area was also arrested on similar charges of spying for Pakistan.
