Blood camp marks centenary celebrations of Red Cross Society



Bathinda, February 15

The Department of Physics, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), organised a blood donation camp to commemorate the centenary celebrations of Indian Red Cross Society here on Friday.

The theme of the camp was ‘to build nation, practise secularism through blood sonation.’ On the occasion, tributes were paid to the Pulwama martyrs.

Students and staff members donated blood and as many as 108 units were collected during the camp. The camp was organised in collaboration with the Civil Hospital and Red Cross Society.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukhpreet Singh Sidhu inaugurated the camp and motivated students and faculty members to donate blood. He said, “‘Blood is the current, which sustains life’. Therefore, every single drop of blood is precious for every life.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dean, Research and Development, MRSPTU, Prof JS Hundal, who is also the head of the Physics Department, motivated the students towards their social responsibilities. VCProf Mohan Paul Singh Ishar appreciated the efforts of the Physics Department and contribution of students and staff members to organise the camp. — TNS
