Chetak Corps reaches out to kin of martyred soldiers

To honour and address the grievances of the families of martyred soldiers, year 2019 was declared as “Year of Next of Kin (NOK)” by the Indian Army.

Chetak Corps identified 1,961 families of martyred soldiers in 10 districts of Punjab and Rajasthan and resolved 1,952 grievances received from them. The corps this year has provided jobs to 40 widows and their children to make them self-reliant and also distributed Rs7.05 crores to the families of the martyrs towards pensionary problem resolution, education grant to their children, daughters’ marriage, widow remarriage, computer grant and financial aid to needy widows.

In consonance with the aim to reach out to maximum NOKs, on Sunday a mega NOK meet was organised by the Chetak Corps wherein 141 veer naris and 22 special children along with their families were present. During the meet, the veer naris/ NOKs were apprised of various welfare schemes and financial benefits provided by the Indian Army and Central and state governments. Lieutenant General Ajai Singh, General Officer Commanding, Chetak Corps addressed the gathering and interacted with the families of the martyred soldiers and felicitated the attendees.
