Bathinda, November 23

The NSS and RRC units of the SSD Women’s Institute of Technology organised an awareness lecture on adverse effects of antibiotics under the campaign, ‘Get well soon without antibiotics’, launched by the World Health Organisation, on November 20. The lectures were conducted by Monika Bansal (NSS Programme Officer), Mannu, Kartiki and Navdeep Kaur (Nodal Officers) and Shally Bansal.

A team of Health Department employees advised students and staff members of the college to reduce the use of antibiotics. Monika Bansal made students aware of the bad effects of the excessive use of antibiotics on human health.

Narinder Kumar, district behaviour change communication facilitator (BCC), and Kulwant Singh, deputy mass media officer, delivered awareness lectures. BCC team members from the Health Department also asked NSS volunteers to become “foot soldiers” of the department by voluntarily participating in reporting health-related deaths. They were apprised of app, “Foot Soldiers of Punjab” launched by the state Health Department.
