Two young doctors of the skin department of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital have been awarded for the papers they presented at DERMACON- 2020, a national conference of the Indian Association of Dermatologists,Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL), which was held recently at Pune.

The skin department was the only in the state to make 16 presentations at the conference. Among medical colleges in the region, PGI Chandigarh made the highest number of presentations.

Dr Vishw Kaushal got Dr Manu Patel memorial prize along with a cash prize for best e-poster presentation on the use of radiofrequency treatment in keloidal scar. Dr Jaskirat Kaur, another doctor from the department, won Dr BB Gokhale award for best paper presentation on newer treatment options of vitiligo. Both doctors also won IADVL scholarship.

Earlier, the skin department presented papers at World Congress of Dermatology in Milan, Italy, in June 2019.
