Farmers confront Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian at Lambi village
Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian was confronted by a group of farmers during his visit to Gaggar village in the Lambi Assembly segment on Tuesday. Some purported videos of the incident also surfaced online.
Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union leader Kala Singh and Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan) leader Malkit Singh Gaggar claimed that he “avoided giving direct answers” to their queries.
The farmer leaders said they had questioned him about the government’s handling of protests at the Shambhu and Khanauri border points with Haryana, from where the protesters were evicted earlier this year.
In one of the videos, Khudian is seen asking farmer leaders to come to his residence to hold talks in a peaceful manner. Meanwhile, the Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union said it would stage a protest outside Cabinet Minister Baljit Kaur’s residence in Malout on May 30.
