F&CC meet cancelled for lack of quorum

The meeting of the Finance & Contracts Committee of the Municipal Corporation (MC) of Bathinda on Thursday was cancelled for lack of quorum.
Senior Deputy Mayor Tarsem Goyal and Deputy Mayor Gurinderpal Kaur Mangat, both from the BJP, have gone for a meeting BJP national president JP Nadda. Another committee member Nirmal Singh, who is from the SAD, was busy in personal work.
As the term of the General House of the MC is set to expire on March 8, Mayor Balwant Rai Nath had called the meeting in a bid to start development work before the upcoming MC election.
In the agenda of Thursday’s meeting, 70 items worth Rs 9.18 crore were included. A few development work pending approval included laying of metal road in Bank Colony, toilets near Bakshi Hospital, laying of interlocking tiles in ward No.45 and near Hotel Gold Star, laying of premix in streets in ward No.20 and Bibiwala Road, beautification of Maharaja Agrasen Park, laying of premix in Multania road streets, installation of LED lights in Balraj Nagar, laying of premix on the road from Mehna Basti to Badal Road, on Civil Lines area roads and 60-feet-road in Model Town, laying of interlocking tiles in Civil Lines and Ajit Road streets, construction of a drain in Power House Road, dispensary in ward No.1, construction of shed in park number 4, renovation of toilets near Bhana Mall Trust, repair of Shaheed Jarnail Singh park, premix in Dhaliwal Colony, Hazi Rattan Road, Partpal Nagar and purchase of water tanker, among others.
