To provide better medical care to eye patients, the eye wing of the Community Health Centre (CHC), Goniana, was upgraded by Sportking India Ltd, recently. The company has provided modern eye-testing equipment such as auto reflector, refraction unit chair and computer system as a part of its CSR initiative.
A function was organised to inaugurate the upgraded facility in the presence Civil Sergeon Dr Amrik Singh and Anjali Avasthi, wife of company’s managing director among other officials of the district Health Department.
Avasthi said: “We are responsible citizens and conscious of our duties towards society. As a part of its continuous social service drive, Sportking has upgraded the eye wing with a hope that the upgraded facility will be helpful to poor patients in the area.”
She said under the up-gradation process, modern eye-testing equipment such as auto reflector, refraction unit chair and computer system with fully air-conditioned room have been given to CHC.
Dr Amrik Singh said after the upgrade, eye hospital would become one of the most modern eye wing at the block-level in the state. It would cater to patients from Goniana mandi and surrounding villages. The eye wing has been providing free spectacles to poor patients and hundreds of students.
On a request by the SMO of the CHC Dr Anil Goyal, the Civil Surgeon also agreed to provide services of eye surgeon at the facility by arranging fortnightly visits from the district hospital.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Sportking’s executive director Naresh Jain, president Shiv Kumar Sharma, Shaji John and RP Gupta.
