Muktsar Civil Hospital doctors, nurses served show-cause notices
Nearly 25 employees, including some doctors posted at the Civil Hospital in Muktsar, have been served show-cause notices for allegedly remaining absent without prior information or arriving late for duty.
The issue came to light when Dr Chandar Shekhar Kakkar, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Muktsar, made a surprise visit to the hospital on Saturday.
Irate over the indiscipline, the CMO immediately issued show-cause notices to the defaulters and made it clear that such negligence would not be tolerated. He instructed the hospital staff to report for duty on time without fail, emphasising that any future lapse would attract strict disciplinary action.
He further directed doctors to prescribe only those medicines that are available in the hospital pharmacy. “A large number of people depend on this hospital. Any lapse in duty is a betrayal of the public’s trust. Staff must perform with full dedication or be prepared to face consequences,” warned the CMO.
Meanwhile, Dr Navroz Goyal, officiating Senior Medical Officer, Civil Hospital, Muktsar, said, “Nearly 25 employees have been served show-cause notices. These include some doctors, laboratory technicians and staff nurses. Since it was a Saturday, a few employees had sought relaxation in duty citing parent-teacher meetings at their children’s schools as the reason.”
