Bathinda, February 20

BJP national president JP Nadda was welcomed by party leaders and workers on his arrival at the Bathinda airport here on Thursday. A roadshow was taken out from the airport to Badal village.

SAD-BJP leaders welcomed JP Nadda at the airport this morning. Even on the way to Badal village in Muktsar district, BJP workers had organised stages at various points in the district to welcome their leader. He called on former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal at his residence and also held a meeting with party leaders.

BJP leaders, including state president Ashwani Sharma, Abohar MLA Arun Narang, state vice-president Jiwan Gupta, BJP organisation secretary Dinesh Kumar, state general secretary Dyal Sodhi, state BJP Mahila Morcha president Mona Jaiswal, Bathinda senior deputy mayor Tarsem Goyal, Bathinda (BJP) president Vinod Binta, Mohan Lal Garg and SAD leaders Sikander Singh Maluka, Sarup Chand Singla, Darshan Singh Kotfatta and Amit Rattan, welcomed JP Nadda inside the airport at Virk Kalan village in Bathinda district.

As he came out of the airport, mediapersons and workers gathered around him. Outside the airport, BJP workers from Bathinda urban and Faridkot welcomed Nadda. At Balluana village on the Gidderbaha road, workers from Abohar, headed by party MLA Arun Narang, welcomed him. Later, Ferozepur leaders and workers welcomed him on the Bathinda-Malout ring road. Workers from Mansa and Barnala accorded him a warm welcome at the Nanhi Chaa chowk near Naruana; Bathinda rural workers at Ghudda village; and Surjit Kumar Jyani, along with Fazilka workers, at Kaljharani village.

Nadda came out of his car to greet the party leaders and their workers on the way. Women workers were wearing saffron saris and suits while men were adorning party caps and mufflers. He was welcomed with slogans of “Bharat mata ki jai” and slogans of Modi and the BJP.

Faction-ridden local BJP leaders on Thursday put up a united show when it came to welcoming the party boss. The route on which the road show was taken out led to a long a traffic jam on the road.
