Newly laid road wears out

A newly laid road connecting Bhagu Road and Children Park Road has begun to wear out. The worn out road has raised questions over the quality of material used in its construction. Residents are demanding probe into this.

The residents alleged that it seemed that the work was not supervised to ensure whether it was being executed as per the laid stipulation or whether the quality of material used for carpeting was as per specifications.

They attributed the damage to poor workmanship and slack supervision on part of the field staff and senior MCB officials.

Mayor Balwant Rai Nath said, “This matter is in my notice and we have stopped the payment of the contractor and directed him to rectify the damage. His final payment will be made after the quality of workmanship and material used in road carpeting is found strictly as per the specifications laid down in the work order,” said the Mayor.
