As many as 35,432 needy people have availed subsidised meal being served at Sasti Rasoi in Bathinda. One needs to pay just Rs 10 for a plate at the Sasti Rasoi initiative.
Deputy Commissioner B Srinivasan said, “The state government’s Sasti Rasoi initative to provide nutrient-rich food on subsidised rates to needy people have proved to be beneficial for many people so far. Under the initiative, the district administration has been providing nutrient-rich and balanced diet for Rs 10 per plate with quantity sufficient for single person. The scheme is being run jointly with the district Red Cross Society and as many as 35,432 needy people have taken meal at the Sasti Rasoi as on January 31, 2020.”
Srinivasan said, “A new scheme has been readied for those who are interested in donation for the scheme. We have devised effective measures to ensure that maximum people benefit from the initiative and reduce the cost. The Red Cross Society also ensures proper hygienic standards while preparing and serving food to people.”
The Sasti Rasoi was introduced by the district administration on March 8, 2017, which is now being run in front of OPD block of Civil Hospital here where patients as well as their relatives avail the subsidised food facility in large numbers. The food is being served from 12 noon to 2.30 pm.
