President Droupadi Murmu graces 10th Convocation at Central University of Punjab, Bathinda
President Droupadi Murmu attended the 10th convocation ceremony of the Central University of Punjab (CUP) in Bathinda today, marking a significant milestone in the university’s history. The event celebrated the academic achievements of its students and underscored the institution’s commitment to higher education.
In her address, President Murmu congratulated the students and emphasized the role of education in nation-building. She encouraged the students to utilize their knowledge and skills for the betterment of the country, highlighting the importance of innovation, ethical values, and social responsibility.
She also said that she is happy about how out of nine students who received gold medals from her, eight were girls. She said that the education of women plays a great role in the upliftment of the society.
She was accompanied by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Cabinet minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian on stage.
The president honoured the nine gold medalists with degrees and medals.
Vice Chancellor Raghavendra Tiwari said that the research-oriented policy and state-of-the-art research infrastructure of the university have helped teachers and students achieve remarkable research achievements.
Following the convocation at CUP, President Murmu is scheduled to attend the convocation ceremony of AIIMS-Bathinda later today. In the evening, she will be honored at a civic reception hosted by the Punjab government in Mohali. Tomorrow, March 12, she will grace the 72nd annual convocation of Panjab University in Chandigarh.
