Students and faculty members of Little Kingdom Nursery School celebrated 71st Republic Day in the school campus on Saturday. The patriotic fervour warmed up the cold winter morning as the childen, teachers and the staff enthusiastically gathered for the celebration. The school was beautifully decorated with tricolour balloons and the white board and the notice board carried quotes related to Republic Day. Students handprints were used for decorating the class boards and the cultural aspects of India were showcased with craft ideas. To enlighten the fact for equality in religions, a board was decorated with Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian cut-outs.
A function was organised which started with a prayer song. The tiny-tots aged 2 to 5 years were dressed up as freedom fighters with each of them holding a tricolour in their hands. Teachers sang patriotic songs such as ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Hum Hindustani’, with the children chanting slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Hind’.
The principal of the school, Shuchita Grover, while addressing the kids, expressed pride in the rich cultural past of the country. She talked about the importance of the Republic Day and how our country got Independence from the Britishers on August 15,1947 and Pandit Nehru unfolded the tricolour on the barricades of the Red Fort in Delhi.
