Dr Jagwinder Jodha, Punjabi poet, critic and academician, opined that the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak was an apt occasion to revisit his thought and philosophy.

He tried to decipher Guru Nanak’s thought with reference to Marxism. He said Guru Nanak challenged the authority of the three institutions — family, state and God.

Dr Sumail Singh Sidhu drew attention to the modification of Guru Nanak’s philosophy by various people to suit their needs. He underlined the ways in which protest was well imbibed in the Sikh thought.
