Bathinda, March 21
The Bathinda police have registered a case against Punjabi singer Amrit Mann, resident of Goniana in the district, for promoting gun culture and violence in his song. A complaint was filed against the singer for glorifying guns through his 2018 song ‘Main te meri rafal rakaane combination choti da (my rifle and I make best combination).
A case has been registered under Sections 294 and 504 of the IPC at Nehiawala police station. The action has been taken on a complaint of Punjab and Haryana High Court advocate HC Arora. The High Court, in July last year, had directed the Director Generals of Police in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh to make sure that songs glorifying liquor, wine, drugs and violence are not played at events and live shows.
The division Bench had observed that glorification of violence, wine, drugs and vulgar songs have given rise to culture of gangsters. The songs affect children of impressionable age, it added.
Earlier, the police had booked Punjabi singers Sidhu Moose Wala and Mankirat Aulakh on the charges of promoting violence and gun culture in a song, which the duo had uploaded on social media. — TNS
