Muktsar, February 24

The singing reality shows are proving a boon for some less privileged people. These shows have changed the lives of many such people, including Bathinda lad Sunny Hindustani, a shoe-shiner, who won the ‘Indian Idol-11’ music reality show on Sunday night. Similarly, Khuda Baksh and his sister Afsana Khan, residents of Badal village in Muktsar district, too earned name from the reality shows.

Khuda Baksh became the first runner-up in the 2017 Indian Idol-9. His sister Afsana Khan became famous who made it to top 14 contestants in ‘Rising Star’ in 2017. Notably, their mother was once a domestic help at former CM Parkash Singh Badal’s residence.

Further, two boys from Muktsar district, Jasveer Gill from Tapakhera village and Inderpreet Singh from Muktsar town, are performing in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa (Punjabi).

Vinod Khurana, a Malout-based music teacher, said, “It is a fact that the singing reality shows have changed the lives of many people. Some of these people have earned such name and fame that they are charging Rs 2-3 lakh for a single event.”
