Muktsar, February 26
A Class X student of National Public School here on Wednesday alleged that the staff of Akal Academy, Muktsar, did not allow him to appear for his annual English exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
Shehbaz Singh said: “I reached the school at 10.27 am but was not allowed entry to the examination hall by the staff. I was sent out at 11 am. Despite telling the school principal that I had met with a road mishap in the morning, the staff did not allow me take the exam.”
“According to CBSE rules, exams start at 10.30 am but the staff did not listen to me. I called my parents, who brought my x-ray reports to prove my case,” he said. Singh said the school staff was responsible for his failure to take the exam.
Some police personnel reached the school. Symbolpreet Kaur, principal, Akal Academy said: “I have sympathy for the student and his parents. According to instructions from the CBSE, entry to the examination centre is not allowed after 10 am as in this case. When the student arrived, question papers had been distributed. I spoke to CBSE officials, who said the rules can’t be changed.”
