The Tribune Impact: Human Rights Commission seeks report on doctor shortage in Muktsar

The Punjab State Human Rights Commission (PSHRC) took suo moto notice of the report that appeared in The Tribune today, titled "Doctor shortage ails healthcare in Muktsar".

The news report highlighted that Muktsar district is functioning with only a quarter of its sanctioned posts of doctors, and the situation is worst in villages where 17 doctors serve against 99 sanctioned posts.

A spokesperson of the commission said that the matter was taken up with the Director, Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, and he was asked to submit his report a week before the next date of hearing on July 7.
