West Bengal Government has ordered shut down of restaurants, bars, pubs, night clubs, clubs, amusement parks, museum and zoos in the state from Sunday as coronavirus cases rise alarmingly in the country.

Two of West Bengal’s three cases come from the state capital Kolkata.

A notification that the state home department issued on Saturday said that the order would remain in force until March 31. The notification also said social gatherings should only be under exceptional circumstances and should be small enough to enforce “social distancing”.

Meanwhile, a woman in her 20s who recently travelled to Scotland tested positive for the infection on Saturday, making her the third confirmed coronavirus case in the state. She returned from her trip on March 16 and was subsequently admitted to the Beliaghata ID Hospital in the city with symptoms of COVID-19.
