NGOs offer support to dist administration

In view of the war-like situation between India and Pakistan, some organisations in the city came forward and pledged their support to the government and district administration in need of emergencies.

A memorandum in lieu of the Deputy Commissioner was handed over by the members of Bharat Youth Federation and Varahi Foundation to Payal Goyal, Assistant Commissioner, Ludhiana, in which the organisations assured their full support to the administration.

Guneet Khera, president of Varahi Foundation, said in case of any emergency in the city, the foundation’s volunteers would be available for rescue operations, relief work, disaster management or any other public assistance. General secretary Rahul Malhotra urged the district administration to not hesitate to contact him for help.

Pranav Mishra, president of Bharat Youth Federation, said his organisation had trained volunteers, who had previously participated in disaster relief and civil-aid operations and would love to aid residents in case of emergencies. The NGOs are on standby and have agreed to coordinate with local authorities as per instructions.
