Bikram Majithia's anticipatory bail plea: HC gives Punjab 2 weeks to respond
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has given the State of Punjab two weeks’ time to respond to a petition filed for anticipatory bail by former state minister Bikram Singh Majithia. The Bench also put the state on notice for September 23.
The direction by Justice Tribhuvan Dahiya came on Majithia's plea in connection with a case registered on July 31 under the provisions of the BNS at the civil lines police station in Amritsar.
An Amritsar court had earlier dismissed the anticipatory bail application filed by the senior leader of SAD and former cabinet minister. Majithia is currently lodged in jail at Nabha.
His counsel has all along been contending that the case was politically motivated, and he was being falsely implicated in multiple cases to keep him behind bars.
