AAP national media incharge and senior leader Anurag Dhanda issued a statement on Friday, saying that four days had passed since the suicide of senior IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, yet there had been no action against the accused, and the Chandigarh Police remained inactive under BJP pressure.

It exposed the insensitivity and administrative failure of the BJP government, he said, adding that it was not merely the death of an officer, but indicated the deep-rooted systemic discrimination against Dalits.

“When a Dalit IPS officer is harassed to the extent that he takes his own life, imagine the plight of poor Dalits in the system,” he said, alleging that, “The BJP cannot tolerate the progress of Dalits. Its ecosystem uses defamatory videos, false allegations, and hate campaigns to humiliate Dalit officers."

Dhanda further said the CM was under pressure from the accused officers.
