PGI experts train traffic cops in life-saving trauma response

UT traffic cops get training in initial management of acute trauma victims at the PGIMER.

Over 100 personnel of the UT Traffic Police received specialised training in the initial management and resuscitation of acute trauma victims at the PGIMER here. The initiative, led by the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, aimed at empowering first responders with critical life-saving skills to manage road accident victims until the arrival of medical teams.

The training included hands-on sessions in first aid, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, bleeding control, fracture splinting, safe transport of trauma victims and crucial interventions such as helmet removal and cervical spine immobilisation.

A medical team comprising specialists, including Kajal Jain, Bismanjeet Khurana, Ashwani Thakur and others conducted the workshop.

Jain outlined the objectives of equipping police officers with the capability to administer essential care in the critical first moments after a crash.
