Sports literature festival set to bring sporting icons and authors to Delhi on Nov 22

The seventh edition of the Ekamra Sports Literature Festival will take place at Bikaner House on November 22, bringing together an impressive line-up of athletes, writers, and sports professionals for a full day of discussions celebrating the spirit of sport.

Italian writer Franco Nugnes leads the opening session with insights into the life and legacy of Formula One legend Ayrton Senna. Other highlights include an appearance by Palestinian Olympian Mohammed Yahya Suleiman Dwedar, who will speak about his journey from conflict-zone training to the global track stage, and a panel on South Asian football featuring authors Sandeep Menon and Jaydeep Basu alongside Inter Kashi CEO Prithvijit Das.

The afternoon will spotlight emerging Indian athletes such as Shourya Ambure, Poorva Sawant, and Bushra Khan, followed by a rare conversation with Cuban high-jump legend Javier Sotomayor, the only athlete to clear the eight-foot barrier, who will be joined by India’s Tejaswin Shankar.

Author Sundeep Misra will discuss ‘Gunned Down: The Murder of an Olympian’, his book on the unsolved murder of hockey Olympian Prithipal Singh, while Paralympian Deepa Malik and co-author Soni Sangwan will share reflections from ‘Bring It On’, detailing Malik’s remarkable journey in sport.

Cricket writer Jarrod Kimber will decode the craft of batting in a session based on his latest book, before the festival concludes with the Ekamra Sports Book Awards.
